John Murray PGA Professional

The Beginnings

I was born in North County Dublin and was fortunate to start playing my junior golf in Clontarf Golf Club. My first club job was as an assistant to to the late Hugh Jackson at Donabate Golf Club. In 1987 I decided to cross the English Channel, where I gained a lot of experience at various clubs and stayed until 2000. 20 years ago, in 2000, I returned to Ireland to take up my position as the Head Professional in Malahide Golf Club. I have been there ever since, watching as the game of golf and all of it's accompaniments has grown and progressed over the years.

Playing Career

I have over 50 professional career wins, which included The Irish Assistants Championship, PGA Southern Professional Championship, and more recently, in 2019, our very own Malahide Pro-Am. I have also been in the Top Ten in the Irish Order of Merit. In 2019, I was given the opportunity to represent Ireland in the TGI Partnership Trophy. Over time, I have also played on both the European Tour and European Challenge Tour. With much practice and hard work I managed to achieve 9 course records over my career, with my lowest score being -9 carding a 63 at Mid Kent Golf Club

Teaching

I am a qualified PGA level 3 coach. I am also qualified Flightscope Analysis Instructor since 2017 and a qualified Custom Fitter for a majority of brands having been trained over the last few years.
